Meet Warren

Hello -

My name is Warren Tuttle and I am a Republican candidate for the Washburn County Sheriff. I'd like to take a few moments to tell you a little bit about myself.

I was born and raised on a dairy farm in Glenwood City, WI. I have one older sister and one younger brother.  My father was a Viet Nam veteran. He along with my mother raised me to respect God and country. During my younger years I was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. Upon graduation from high school, I received a Distinguished Achievement Award from the American Legion and a Good Citizen Award from the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

My wife, Megan and I were married in 1996 and recently celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary.

In 1996, I graduated from the University of Wisconsin - STOUT with a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management. I worked a total of twelve years in the private sector managing several locations including sites at the Minnesota State University - Mankato and Northern Illinois University. I managed a budget of $1.2 million dollars and was directly responsible for six managers and 65 employees. Needless to say, I have a lot of business experience that would benefit me when I am elected as Washburn County's next Sheriff.

In 2000, I became certified as an Emergency Medical Technician. I have worked part time for the past twenty years responding to various medical and trauma emergencies.  I currently volunteer as a Shell Lake First Responder, doing my part to help the citizens of Washburn County.

In 2003, I made the decision to change my career path and began the process of becoming certified as a police officer in the State of Wisconsin. I completed a 400 hour modular cycle academy in June of 2005.

Fifteen years later, I have experienced law enforcement from several different aspects. I was employed as a St. Croix Tribal Police Officer for eight years. Six of those years I acted as a patrol sergeant responsible for as many as 12 sworn officers. I was responsible for interviewing, training, mentoring, reviewing, and counseling officers throughout their tenure with the police department. In 2014, I was hired by the Washburn County Sheriff's Office as a patrol deputy. Since my time as Washburn County I have been the Field Training Officer, the Emergency Vehicle's Operations Course Instructor, the Vehicle Contact Instructor, and a drone pilot.

I am very proud to be a member of the Washburn County Sheriff's Office and look forward to partnering with the citizens of Washburn County to create a stronger relationship.
